Just a note: I'll be in Melbourne from tomorrow for a week and in Sydney the week after, so my favourites-of-the-year post will be appearing here just in time for 2008. Oh, and if any Melbourne/Sydney cinephiles wanted to meet up while I'm there, feel free to email me (the address is on my blogger profile page).
What are these from?
Daniel, these stills are from Yvan Lagrange's (sadly-unavailable) Renaissance (1970) - a shimmering and mysterious film from an intriguing figure of the Parisian underground film scene. He is perhaps better known for his operatic version of Tristan and Iseult.
Oh man, I wish I could see Tristan and Iseult. On Lagrange's website you can look up video clips for some of his films ... (I must have first read about Lagrange from Brenez.)
Zach, you will get to see it! (if you don't mind seeing it the only way it's possible to right now).
